Frequently Asked Questions

Who will be cleaning my home?2021-04-21T15:17:19-07:00

We will assign one of our professionally trained cleaning technicians based on your location and schedule. All of our cleaners are well trained, highly rated, and thoroughly vetted. We conduct background checks, in-person interviews, and paid training for every employee, so we know they will do a great job for you. The day before each cleaning, you will receive a confirmation email with the name of your cleaning technician scheduled for that visit.

How many cleaners will be coming to my home?2021-04-21T15:17:55-07:00

In most situations, one cleaning technician will clean your home. This allows the cleaner to develop a routine unique to your home after the initial clean. Due to the size and scope of larger jobs like move in/outs, two cleaners may be assigned.

What do I need to do to prepare for house cleaning?2021-04-21T15:18:33-07:00

To get the most out of your service, we recommend that you pick up loose items from counters, floors and furniture before your cleaning technician arrives. This will allow them to concentrate all their efforts on the details of cleaning and not tidying up. Other than that, just secure any pets and make sure that we will be able to enter your home at the scheduled date and time. We know what to do after that!

Will I get the same house cleaner each visit?2021-04-21T15:19:23-07:00

We know that many of our clients are very fond of our cleaners! We cannot guarantee which employee will be at your home on any given day, but if you have a preference for a particular cleaning technician, please contact us at 253-299-2800 to let us know and we will assign them to your home whenever possible. When that is not possible, we will send a different cleaner, and we guarantee that they will also do a great job for you.

Can I tell the house cleaner exactly what I want cleaned?2021-02-25T07:07:42-08:00

Most of the cleaners follow industry accepted cleaning protocols and best practices to ensure that your home is cleaned and maintained at your scheduled service. If you have specific items you want to emphasize, you can ask your cleaner or provide a priority list. You can also request additional services as needed.

What happens if my cleaner missed cleaning something?2021-02-16T06:42:18-08:00

The independent housecleaners that are registered through The Housekeeping Connection are open to feedback and guarantee their work. In most cases, they will come back and make it right for you. Please let us know within 24 hours of your clean if something is wrong. It is important to both the cleaning professionals and to us you are 100% satisfied.

Do the cleaning professionals have their own cleaning supplies and products?2021-02-16T06:42:18-08:00

Yes. However, if you prefer certain products to be used in your home, then you are able to supply the cleaners with products and supplies they can use. Please note that due to Covid-19, we are requesting that clients provide a vacuum for your cleaning service.

Do the cleaning professionals have eco-friendly products?2021-02-16T06:42:18-08:00

Yes, many of the cleaning professionals offer an eco-friendly option. However, not all products they carry are eco-friendly. It is important to check with your cleaner or provide certain products you may prefer.

Do I tip my cleaning professional?2021-02-16T06:42:17-08:00

Tipping is always appreciated but never required. It’s a great way to show your appreciation for a job well done. In our experience, we have found that cleaners are much more likely to accept your booking request or accommodate your needs when you’ve tipped them in the past. A suggested tipping range is 15% of the cleaning fee. Please call our office if you wish to add tipping to your credit card payments.

What time will my cleaner arrive?2021-04-21T15:26:39-07:00

Because each clean is so different and our staff travels in between cleans, there is a 1 hour window of arrival provided at the time of scheduling. Most cleaners arrive between 8-9 am or 12-1 pm depending on their schedule that day.

How long does the cleaning take?2021-02-16T07:10:34-08:00

The cleaning time varies based on the size of your home, the number of rooms and bathrooms, and the condition of your home at the time of the cleaner’s arrival. After the initial clean, you can expect between 3-5 hours for weekly or bi-weekly recurring services. Each cleaning professional is efficient in time management.

What if I need to reschedule my recurring cleaning?2021-02-16T07:10:52-08:00

There is a 48 hour rescheduling policy in order to keep each cleaning professional’s schedule full. 48 hours gives us time to try to re-fill the cleaning schedule for your cleaner. You can manage any schedule changes here. Any schedule changes made within 48 hours may result in a late cancellation/rescheduling fee.

Am I able to skip a cleaning with ongoing service?2021-02-16T07:11:14-08:00

Yes, with a 48 hour notice. Any schedule changes within 48 hours may result in a late cancellation/ rescheduling fee. Please remember if you need to cancel, your next appointment will be charged at the next recurring service rate. For example, weekly will go to a bi-weekly rate, bi-weekly will be charged at the monthly rate. Please remember that skipping services impacts the cleaning professionals income and should not be a regular occurrence. You also have the option to skip service with a 48 hour notice and pay for the service to hold your recurring service discount, avoiding being charged at the next level for your next clean.

What is your cancellation policy?2021-02-16T07:11:39-08:00

The Housekeeping Connection has a 48 hour cancelation policy. In order to cancel or reschedule, you must do so at least 48 hours in advance to avoid a penalty. If you cancel 24-48 hours before your scheduled service, you will be charged $75. If you cancel within 0-24 hours, you will be charged for your scheduled clean.

Why is my first clean more expensive than my other regularly scheduled services?2021-02-25T07:05:25-08:00

The initial cleaning service brings your home up to a standard that the professional cleaners will then maintain on a recurring service basis. In most cases, the initial clean will take longer and includes details not needed in a regularly scheduled service, which is why it costs more. Get a quote and book online in 60 seconds.

How often do you provide service?2021-02-16T07:12:37-08:00

Do I need to be home?2021-02-16T07:20:53-08:00

No, you do not need to be home.  A majority of clients are not home during their service.  If you will not be home at the time of your cleaners arrival, please provide instructions for the cleaner to get into your home during the booking process and any special instructions for that day (i.e. if there is a room you want skipped).  If you are home during your cleaning service, please communicate with your cleaner if/ when you want your workspace cleaned (beginning or end) in order to avoid interruptions during your workday and their cleaning routine.

How will the cleaner get in when I am not home?2021-02-16T07:21:12-08:00

When you schedule your cleaning, we will ask for instructions on how to enter your home.  The following ways are the most common: lock box, garage key code, door key code, or hide a key.  The cleaner will lock up when they leave using the same method they entered your home.

What if I have an alarm system?2021-02-16T07:21:33-08:00

If you have an alarm system, please ensure the alarm is off.  If you want your cleaner to turn the alarm off, ensure they know the code and where to turn it off.

What if I forget to give entry access?2021-04-21T15:22:33-07:00

If you are not home when your cleaner arrives and entry access is not provided in advance, we will contact you. If the cleaner cannot obtain access, up to the full price of the cleaning will be charged as a lock out fee.

Are Your Cleaners Insured?2021-04-21T15:23:04-07:00

While the cleaning professionals use caution when cleaning, unfortunately sometimes accidents happen.  If there is something in your home that holds significant value (i.e. a family heirloom), you may consider putting it away before your cleaning professional arrives or asking the cleaning professional to leave that item alone.  Each cleaning professional is responsible for their own work and carries liability insurance.  If there is any breakage or damage, they will handle that issue with you directly.  Although The Housekeeping Connection is not the employer of the cleaner we refer to you, we do carry professional liability insurance and vicarious general liability insurance.

Please note, if you or someone in your household is experiencing COVID 19 symptoms, we ask that you notify the office right away and we will work with you to reschedule your clean. This helps to keep everyone safe and healthy.

What if I have pets?2021-02-16T07:22:40-08:00
